Need some tips? Here's my advice on how you can update your profile to give yourself the best chance of finding that someone special!

  • Upload photos! And not just any photos, but photos that you think are a good representation of you. If the lighting is bad, people may think you're a bit shady. If you've obviously cut out a member of the opposite sex out of the pic, it may make some think of your past. Look sad in your photo? Potential matches may see you as a bit of a downer. It's not about putting a fake you out there - just putting the best you.
  • Describe who you're looking for - but don't make it so specific that you may marginalise potential matches who are 'borderline' on some of your 'wants'. Really think about what you're putting out there; and acknowledge that members will do a 'tick list' in their heads of whether they are the person for you or not.
  • Fill in your lifestyle, personality and thoughts. Keep it brief and to the point (Your life story can come later!) but here's where you get to show potential partners a bit of what's inside your head and your heart.
  • Set up your match criteria. My number one tip for this is to have an idea of what you want but to push it out a bit. For example, if your criteria is set at a maximum age of 34, but the *perfect* person is 35, will a few months really matter in the long run? Something to think about!
  • Ensure other members can see your profile. There's no point getting all dressed up to go out but not leaving home, so remember that after putting all this great info about you into your profile, the most important step is to make sure potential dates can see it!
