When Spencer met Annie

TARANAKI

After my marriage of 18 years ended in January 2013 I thought that was it. I had no idea where to look for a new love and thought I was ready for the scrap heap. I stumbled across FSO purely by accident and thought to hell with it - why not! After browsing through pages of ladies profiles I finally decided to make up a profile of my own.

A few days later I received a cheeky, well worded message from Ants1967. We clicked instantly and exchanged messages, then phone calls and texts and finally we decided to meet up.

I think I loved her already. I drove through to Palmerston North for our first date armed with flowers and chocolates ... old fashioned I know, but then so am I.

Walking up to her front door, the butterflies in my tummy were doing cartwheels, but when she opened her door I was bowled over by her beautiful blue eyes ... then I took in the rest of her ... wow I thought lol.

It was love at first sight for both of us and we have been inseparable ever since. Within two years she moved to Taranaki and we are more in love today than ever.

I pinch myself sometimes to make sure I'm not dreaming. I still get butterflies when she calls me at work, or when I'm on my way home after work. I am the luckiest man on the planet.

The cheeky initial message, well written - correct spelling and grammar ... no text garbage ... it was obvious that she was an intelligent lady with a GSOH.

  • Who reached out to who?

Annie did, she was a Gold Member and had been on the site longer than me. I'm grateful to her for that!

Curry for lunch in Palmerston North, followed by a walk through the Plaza - hand in hand.

  • Any advice to other singles still looking for their special someone?

Be truthful with yourself and others. Know what you're looking for and don't just settle. Be realistic in your expectations.

  • Did you have to kiss many frogs to find your prince/princess?

No I didn't - I got it right the first time. Annie though, met some real losers.

    About a week or so.

  • Were you nervous about online dating at the start?

Absolutely - there are some nutters out there, and you hear lots of horror stories .
